TJ is from Biloxi, Mississippi. He is a graduate of Biloxy High School and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

His drum corps experiences include two summers with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps; 2014 in the front ensemble and 2015 marching bass drum. He also has several years of experience marching snare drum in WGI. He spent two seasons in Open Class with Gulf Coast Independent. He then spent two seasons with WGI World Class finalist, Palmetto Percussion in 2015 and 2016.

TJ has spent several years as a freelance percussion instructor on the MS Gulf Coast and South Carolina. He teaches private lessons, as well as work with local middle school and high school marching band programs. Some of the former programs included Long Beach High School (MS), North Gulfport Middle School, and West Harrison High School (MS).

During his tenure, the West Harrison percussion program was a consistent performance group, winning the Class 5A High Percussion award in 2015. The band has also performed nationally at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, as well as the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA.

In 2018 and 2019, he was on staff with WGI World Class finalist, Pedal Indoor Percussion Theater as a battery tech. He is currently on staff with Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, where he has been a battery tech since 2018. In 2019, he began working with TL Hanna High School and Palmetto Indoor Theatre.
