Hanna
Soloists Win Recognition
T.L. Hanna High School Jazz Band members Trent
Loftis, John Smith Buchan and Joseph Osborne were recognized as
outstanding soloists at the New Trier Jazz Festival in Chicago on
February 9th.
Loftis and Buchan were featured on trumpet, and
Osborne performed a guitar feature on two of the band selections.
The T.L. Hanna Jazz Band traveled to Chicago for
this annual event, which featured clinics, concerts and workshops by
some of the countries foremost jazz educators and performers.
Richard C. Baskin and Roger Whitt are the directors
of the T.L. Hanna Jazz Ensemble.

The
Jazz Band is an optional activity which is organized after Marching
Season. (Usually late Oct. early Nov). The Jazz Band meets after school on Tuesdays
and Thursdays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. Membership
is open to all interested Marching Band Students. Students register for this as a class and receive a
grade and full unit credit for their participation.
